Donald C. Horne, CLU®, CFP®, AIF®, is a principal of Pioneer Financial Group, a Financial Advisor, and has served as the firm’s Vice President since its founding in 1999. Don is an entrepreneur who specializes in the Financial Services Industry. 

Leading through a process of education and planning, Don’s primary focus is his personal financial planning practice. He works with his clients to develop sound strategies for today and into the future. He challenges his clients to take the time through the financial planning process to discover the things that are most important to them. Along the way, he identifies strategies to help maximize the choices they have in life and to minimize risks and the potential for loss. 

Continuing education has always been part of Don’s philosophy both as an advisor as well as a community leader. He is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Rhode Island; GAMA International; and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and is a Past President for the local NAIFA-RI Chapter. 

Don also conducts educational seminars as part of his financial advisor practice and offers a six-hour retirement planning class held at the University of Rhode Island. The retirement planning class has brought retirement planning strategies to many in the southern Rhode Island community.

Don is a volunteer to the Special Olympics and a contributor to other charitable organizations. He is also the President of the Lisa Rego Horne Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)3 established in 2017 following his late wife’s courageous fight against Lymphoma. 

Don completed five modules and a two- and one-half day comprehensive exam to earn his Certified Financial Planner certification from American College. In addition, Don has earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation and his Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) professional designation, awarded by the Center for Fiduciary Studies, which is associated with the University of Pittsburgh. Through the AIF® designation, he has received formal training in investment fiduciary responsibility.

Don resides in West Greenwich, Rhode Island with his wife, Julie-Ann and his two children, Maya and Charlie.
